State Bank of Shelton – 203 West Railroad Avenue

This Commercial Vernacular one-story brick building was constructed in 1915, replacing a wood frame structure that was destroyed in the fire that consumed much of the downtown in 1914. The bank was formed by W.F. White, James Currie, R.R. Spencer and J.R. McDonald in 1884, the same time as the Satsop Railroad Company. In 1890 Alfred H. Anderson purchased both the bank and the railroad. Mark Reed became bank president in 1911 and was president of the bank at the time the bank was constructed in 1914. Over the years the bank has changed owners and uses, to it’s current use as a restaurant. A loft has been added to the interior for additional eating area. The building was placed on the Shelton Historic Register in April of 1995.
