Located at the end of 8th Street (@Alder Street). Proposal to replant area around opening to tunnel, which is now boarded up. Historic Data Collection:

This project is being initiated to encourage local citizens in the community to document history they may have on the development of Shelton. There are several citizens in the community who have lived in Shelton for several years, and/or have ancestors from the area that may have participated in the original formation of the City. The Board members will meet with interested persons to talk about and take notes on historic facts about the City or events that took place during the early years of development. This information will be compiled into one document for possible future publication.

Historic Landmark Designations:

Encourage citizens of potential historic landmarks to submit applications to the City for historic landmark designation on the Shelton Historic Register. The Board will assist property owners with research of the building/property and completing the application process for designation. The designation is free of charge and includes a bronze plaque for the building, which is provided by City, that identifies the historic name of the building and the year built.
